Kaduna South LG Hosts 2027 Budget Town Hall Meeting to Strengthen Open Governance and Community Priorities
Published on August 18, 2026
The Executive Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government, Hon. Rayyan Hussain MPSCM FICA, convened a major Town Hall Meeting bringing together key community stakeholders across all 13 wards to deliberate on the upcoming 2027 Local Government Budget.
The participatory budgeting session was attended by representatives from youth associations, women’s groups, traditional leadership, and organizations for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
During the session, Hon. Rayyan Hussain presented a comprehensive performance scorecard detailing the previous year's budget execution. The report highlighted major strides across key priority areas, with notable advancements in primary healthcare services directly resulting from community inputs gathered during the previous budget cycle. Stakeholders contributed fresh recommendations to shape priority projects for the 2027 fiscal year.
The initiative reflects Kaduna South’s ongoing commitment under the Open Government Partnership (OGP) framework. Kaduna South Local Government was recently ranked the best Local Government in transparency across Nigeria, while Kaduna State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Senator Uba Sani CON, made history as the first state in the country to achieve national OGP distinction.
"True governance belongs to the people," Hon. Rayyan Hussain stated. "By presenting our performance scorecard and gathering direct input across all 13 wards, we are ensuring that our 2027 budget reflects the true needs of our communities. We will continue to uphold transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in everything we do."
