About Kaduna South
Our History
With a rich history, Kaduna South was originally carved out of the old Kaduna Capital Territory. Its growth has been intrinsically linked to the development of Kaduna as a major administrative and industrial hub in Northern Nigeria. The area expanded rapidly as people from across the country migrated to work in its burgeoning textile industries and government sectors, creating the vibrant, multicultural communities we see today. This legacy has shaped it into a dynamic melting pot of cultures, ideas, and enterprise.
Kaduna South is a vibrant and densely populated Local Government Area (LGA) that forms a major part of the Kaduna metropolis. As a pivotal urban center, it is not just an administrative division but a major commercial powerhouse. It is home to bustling markets, such as the famous Kakuri Market, and lies in close proximity to key industrial zones, including the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company (KRPC). This blend of commerce and industry makes it a cornerstone of Kaduna State's economy, driving growth and providing livelihoods for hundreds of thousands of residents.
