The Executive Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government, Hon. Rayyan Hussain MPSCM FICA, joined state leaders, agricultural stakeholders, and farmers today as His Excellency, Governor Senator Uba Sani CON, officially flagged off the 2026 Wet Season Free Fertilizer Distribution and Agricultural Mechanization Expansion Initiative at Murtala Square, Kaduna.

Under this major agricultural intervention, the state government is distributing 500 trucks of free fertilizer and providing modern mechanization support to 150,000 smallholder farmers across all 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. The programme is designed to significantly boost crop yields, lower production costs, and reinforce subnational food security.

This year’s release builds on a record of sustained agricultural investment under the Uba Sani administration, following the distribution of 500 trucks of fertilizer in 2024 and over 400 trucks in 2025. Stakeholders present described an intervention of this magnitude as unprecedented in the history of Kaduna State.

"By equipping 150,000 smallholder farmers with free fertilizer and mechanization tools, the Governor is directly protecting our farming families against rising costs and climate uncertainties. Kaduna South Local Government stands fully ready to coordinate seamless grassroots delivery so that our local farmers maximize the benefits of this milestone initiative."
