Kaduna South Local Government Strengthens Primary Healthcare Delivery Through Data, Accountability, and Community Partnerships

Published on May 25, 2026

The Executive Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government, Hon. Rayyan Hussain MPSCM FICA, has held a strategic meeting with key healthcare stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare service delivery across the Local Government Area.

The meeting brought together political appointees, representatives of the Health Taskforce, officials of the Primary Health Care Board (PHCB), In-Charges of Primary Healthcare Centres, the National Health Fellow, and Administrative Officers. It also provided an opportunity for familiarization with newly appointed PHC In-Charges and focused on practical measures to improve healthcare operations, data collection, and service delivery.

A major focus of the meeting was the digitization of daily health records and the strengthening of data collection processes to support evidence-based planning. The stakeholders also discussed the need to increase awareness on maternal mortality and promote the importance of Ante-Natal Care (ANC) through stronger partnerships with District Heads and worship centres. In addition, healthcare interventions identified as priorities are to be reflected in the business plans of Primary Healthcare Centres to improve planning, implementation, and accountability.

The Chairman further announced the introduction of an appraisal system to recognize and reward best-performing PHCs, while encouraging accountability, professionalism, and excellence in service delivery. Critical operational challenges discussed included delays in the submission of reports by private healthcare facilities, staff adherence to reporting and official closing times, as well as concerns over the increasing circulation of fake scan results from some scan centres.

“We must build a healthcare system that is transparent, accountable, data-driven, and focused on results. Every facility has a responsibility to serve our people with professionalism and dedication. Through improved data systems, stronger community partnerships, regular appraisal, and accountability, we can significantly improve the quality of healthcare delivery across Kaduna South.” — Hon. Rayyan Hussain MPSCM FICA

The Kaduna South Local Government administration remains committed to strengthening primary healthcare delivery through improved systems, technology, partnerships, and accountability. These efforts align with the people-centred SUSTAIN Agenda of His Excellency Governor Uba Sani CON, which prioritizes improved access to quality healthcare and sustainable development across Kaduna State.
