Reconstruction of Zango Road Commences

Published on September 25, 2025

The Kaduna South Local Government has officially commenced the total reconstruction of the critical Zango Road, a major commercial and residential artery whose dilapidated state has been a source of public outcry for years. The flag-off of the project by Chairman Rayyan Hussein fulfills a key promise to the community and signals a new phase of infrastructure renewal in the area, with residents and business owners expressing profound optimism.

For a long time, the poor condition of Zango Road has severely hampered daily life and commerce. The stretch was notorious for its deep potholes and failed sections, leading to prolonged travel times, frequent vehicle damage, and significant economic losses for local businesses that suffered from dust during the dry season and impassable mud in the rainy season.

The current project is not a temporary palliative but a comprehensive overhaul designed for long-term durability. The scope of work involves the complete excavation of the old, failed roadbed, which will be replaced with a reinforced foundation of laterite and stone base. Following this, a thick grade of asphalt will be laid. Critically, the project includes the construction of a modern, high-capacity drainage system with covered concrete gutters and culverts, engineered to effectively manage heavy rainfall and prevent the waterlogging that led to the previous road's rapid deterioration.

At the flag-off ceremony, Chairman Rayyan Hussein, who personally operated an excavator to signal the start of work, addressed a large crowd of community leaders, business owners, and residents. "We are fully aware of the temporary inconveniences and disruptions that a project of this scale will cause," he acknowledged. "However, I appeal for your patience and cooperation. This short-term sacrifice will lead to a long-term gain for all of us. A durable road here is not just about convenience; it's about unlocking economic potential, improving property values, and enhancing the overall standard of living."

The administration has assured the public that it will closely monitor the contractor to ensure the project adheres to strict quality standards and is completed within the stipulated timeline. Upon completion, the new Zango Road is expected to trigger an economic revival in the area, providing a smooth and reliable corridor that will benefit thousands of residents daily.
